The Tsessebe is renowned for its remarkable speed, capable of reaching over 80 km/h, making it one of the fastest antelope on the African continent. Its rich chestnut coat, distinctive dark face and unique sloping back give it an unmistakable appearance.

Preferring open grasslands and lightly wooded savannahs, Tsessebe live in herds but mature bulls often establish territories during the breeding season. Their keen eyesight and constant vigilance make them a challenging species to approach on foot.
