Suni

Africa's Tiny Forest Jewel

Standing only 30–40 cm at the shoulder, the Suni is among the smallest antelope species found in southern and eastern Africa. Its rich chestnut-brown coat, large dark eyes and compact build provide excellent camouflage within dense woodland and coastal forests.

Sunis are highly territorial and typically live alone or in pairs, relying on thick cover and stealth rather than speed to evade predators. They feed on leaves, fruits, flowers and young shoots, making them well adapted to forest habitats where grazing opportunities are limited.

Due to their elusive behaviour and preference for dense vegetation, spotting a Suni is considered a rare privilege. Their small size and cautious nature make them one of Africa's most fascinating miniature antelope.
