Few plains game animals test a hunter's patience quite like the bushbuck.

Often called the ghost of the riverbanks, mature rams spend their lives tucked away in thick cover, emerging only when they feel completely secure. They're creatures of habit, but they're masters at using shadows, dense vegetation and broken terrain to their advantage.

A bushbuck hunt is slow, deliberate and often measured in hours rather than kilometres. You'll glass every opening, listen for the slightest movement and wait for a single opportunity that may last only seconds.

Their rich chestnut coat, striking white markings and heavy spiral horns make them one of Africa's most beautiful trophies—but it's the challenge of finding a mature ram that keeps hunters coming back.
