Burchell's Zebra is the most widespread zebra species in southern Africa and is recognised by its bold black-and-white stripes, strong build and highly social nature. Living in family groups or larger herds, zebras rely on excellent eyesight and hearing to detect danger long before predators—or hunters—approach.

Although often overlooked because they are common, zebra are surprisingly difficult to hunt. Their constant alertness, unpredictable movement and habit of remaining in open terrain demand careful stalking, favourable wind conditions and patience.
